SVEEP

Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) is a programme of multi interventions through different modes and media designed to educate citizens, electors and voters about the electoral process in order to increase their awareness and participation in the electoral processes. SVEEP is designed according to the socio-economic, cultural and demographic profile of the Manipur as well as history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning thereof.

The response of the transgender community towards the said programme is very positive. The no. of transgender electors/voters is likely to increase in the final electoral roll, 2019.

The camp managed to enrol four voters, who were all these while hesitant to come out publicly to enrol. Such camps actually created an impact in motivating the PwDs to come out and enrol, and we expect more PwDs to come forward in the next few days.

This specific SVEEP Campaign really helped the Pwds and their guardians to come forward and enroll in electoral rolls. This campaign helped in identifying the barriers like lack of Disability Certificate as well as hesitation on the part of PwD and their guardians to come forward in the inclusion of PwDs in electoral rolls. The effort to make PwDs inclusive in electoral process was appreciated by one and all, and expect more such programmes in the future.

Young voters were less in number in the gram sabha meeting. Older voters expressed apprehensions regarding difficulty of using ICT for using online facility. It was conveyed to them that the earlier provisions of registration through offline forms are still available, and therefore, it was assured that there was nothing to worry about.

The consumers while not disturbing their queue were given the awareness of SVEEP and about the ongoing Special Summary Revision 2019. A bundle of pamphlet consisting of 500 copies, a copy of which is enclosed herewith, was handed over to the officials who are issuing receipt of payment with a request to hand over one pamphlet each to the consumers for creation of awareness of the ongoing Special Summary Revision 2019. Also awareness was given to the locals of the area and BLOs of the adjoining Parts were also present for the awareness.

After having a talk with the Manager, Likla Bakery, the service staffs were requested to wear the T shirts depicting ”I AM Ready to make the Right Choice” till 31-10-2018 and serve the customers. Also they were requested to accompany one pamphlet which we gave to them to the plate which eatables are served to the customers coming for eating. The Money teller was requested to distribute a pamphlet each to the customers. A copy of the pamphlet is enclosed herewith.
