Activities

SVEEP Program was organized at Old Autonomous Council Office, Mini Sectt. for the Youth Members of 12 localities of Ukhrul District HQ Area on 21st September 2018. The 12 localities were Phungreitang East, Phungreitang West, Rayotang, Greenland, Viewland, Hundung, Awontang, Dungrei, etc. Mr. Chipemmi Keishing, and Mr. K Rupachandra Singh, were the resource person of the programmeThe programme was attended by 40 youth members from the said area. During the programme, the following details were discuss and made aware to the participants

1. Informing about the different types of forms available. (Form 76,7,8 8A)
2. List of enclosures with the forms
3. Importance of Voters’ Participation in the democratic and electoral processes
4. Aiming to increase qualitative participation
5. Increasing voter’s participation through voter’s registration and turnout
6. Educating individuals and others about the importance of voting
7. Informing about the good practices and bad practices
8. Importance of Voter’s Day
9. Facilitation for registration : Online services, CEO websites, searching of names and forms
10. Encouraging them to be a Volunteer so that they can help elderly person on poll day
11. Imparting the knowledge of Voter Guide and Photo Voter Slips which is needed for every voter. These carry the name and details of the polling booth and serve as identification on the poll day
12. Educating them about EVM and its working
13. Do and Don’t on poll day by voters and poll day procedures to be followed by voters

Discussion Hour

1. E-roll Registration
   • There are many youths who have cross 18 years and above and who are still not yet enrolled in Electoral Roll. So they agreed to enroll on this currently going enrollment
   • They also agreed to sign the declaration form if they cross 21 years of age as on 1/1/2019
   • They discuss the importance of youth role in creating awareness about the importance of inclusion in electoral roll
   • There are many youths/person who are not interested in enrollment or interested in voting on poll day. So they realize that, it should be a must for every voters to come out and cast their vote on the poll day
   • Importance of Right to Vote is discussed and they realized that through casting their votes, they can make Democracy stronger
2. Undeleted Death/Shifted voters
   • Many participants agreed that there are numbers of death person who are not deleted from the e-roll. They agreed that they will raise voice in such cases to delete the death/shifted/expired voters for clean e-rolls
3. Double Entry
   • The participant discusses about the double entry and they observed that it is not healthy to enroll in more than one polling station. They also agreed to delete themselves by applying through form 7, if they happens to have more than one enrollment.
4. Problem and Challenges
   • The group agreed that the number of applied voters for enrollment is more than the accepted
   • There are many mistakes in Electoral Roll. (like Names, Date of Births, Relation name, etc)
   • Loss of EPIC card cannot be replaced timely
   • Poor Connectivity and Electricity paralyzed the online registration. the conclusion part, small quiz were done and prizes (T-Shirt and Cap) were given/distributed to the winners.
